Kitchen Terminology

… Let’s simplify kitchen planning by cutting through the jargon …

Starting a fresh kitchen project is super exciting, but it can also feel a bit overwhelming. With so many decisions to tackle and tons of technical terms thrown around, it’s easy to get lost. But don’t worry, we’ve got your back! Check out our easy-to-follow guide with simple explanations of all the key components you’ll encounter during kitchen production and installation. Ready to dive in? Let’s go!

1.Plinth

Referred to as either the kick plate or kick board, this component serves to cover the space between the floor and the bottom of your kitchen cabinets. The plinth is utilized to conceal cabinet legs and any unsightly gaps, providing a polished and tidy appearance to the kitchen.

2.Multi-Rail

The Multi-Rail serves as a decorative finish for wall units, offering versatility in its applications. It can be utilized as a cornice or pelmet, as well as to enclose a cluster of units, enhancing the modern aesthetic of the space.

3.Cornice

The cornice refers to the decorative trim situated atop the wall cabinets, effectively filling the empty space above them. Exclusive to our L-Shaped kitchens, the cornice adds a distinctive touch to the overall design.

4.ABS Edging

Edging is the trim installed along the sides of the worktop area to conceal exposed chipboard. This ensures a seamless appearance across the entire counter, resulting in a neat and polished finish.

5.Appliance Door

The appliance door serves to conceal a variety of cooking and cleaning appliances within your kitchen, contributing to a seamless aesthetic.

6.End Panel

An end panel is installed on the side of a cabinet that isn’t adjacent to the wall, effectively concealing the cabinet’s interior. We offer Base End Panels, Wall End Panels, and Larder End Panels to fulfill your needs.

7.Upstand

A decorative piece matching the worktop that extends along its entire length. Comes in a height of 100mm when supplied.

8.Blind Corner Unit

A Blind Corner Unit is utilized in corner spaces to seamlessly transition between adjacent walls, effectively eliminating large empty spaces in corners.

9.Edging Tape

Edging tape for kitchen cabinets, designed to perfectly match the finish of the cabinet doors.
